LOCALS HELPING LOCAL HEROES

Steele Law (www.trentsteele.com) recently partnered with local businesses in Hobe Sound to help the Dunbar Early Learning Center reopen its doors on June 1, 2020. The Dunbar was forced to close for over two months due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Located in the Banner Lake community of Hobe Sound, the Dunbar provides low cost comprehensive childcare services and early learning for children of ages birth to 5 years old in a year-round, center-based program. “Now that parents are returning to work, we discovered an overwhelming demand to reopen,” said Wendy Reynoso, executive director of the Dunbar

To help with the reopening, Steele partnered with Hobe Sound-based Island Sustainables which supplied each Dunbar staff member with hand sanitizer, made with locally sourced fresh aloe. Island Sustainables, is best known for LuLu’s Coconut Water, made from coconuts found here in Hobe Sound.

Steele ordered child-friendly face masks for the teachers and staff from Ms. Peaches of Pettway Grocery in Hobe Sound. The Dunbar’s executive director, Wendy Reynoso said, “we want our infants and children to feel welcome here when they return, and standard face masks can intimidate and frighten them.”

To further help the teachers and caregivers, Steele Law also purchased $25 gift certificates from the newly opened Hobe Sound Grille for each of the 22 members of the Dunbar staff.

“Businesses of all sizes have been hit hard in this challenging new age of social distancing and self-isolation, but the blow has been catastrophic for small businesses relying on in-person transactions,” said attorney Trent Steele of Steele Law. “By purchasing products exclusively from local businesses, we hope to pay it forward in appreciation for all our loyal clients over the last twelve years, since we opened our office in Hobe Sound. Best of all, we can thank the teachers and staff at the Dunbar who are returning to work in these challenging times,” said Steele.
